Australian family-owned brand Orgran has released its Vegan Easy Egg product to Coles stores nationwide, which aims to substitute into many egg-based recipes.

The Vegan Easy Egg allows consumers living with allergies or intolerances the option to enjoy their favourite egg dish, but with a plant base. It is also suited for those choosing a vegetarian, vegan or flexitarian diet.

It is made from chickpea flour, which is rich in fibre, protein and micronutrients. When preparing as scrambled eggs, Orgran says it includes 7.6g of protein per serve, while being cholesterol free.

“We know people all over the world are moving towards more of a ‘free from’ lifestyle, with consumer habits telling us that vegan and plant based diets are on the rise year on year,” said Orgran CEO Sam Schachna.

“It’s important with any ‘alternative’ innovation that the taste is right. We’re really pleased our Australian-made Orgran innovation; the Vegan Easy Egg tastes great.”

Orgran first launched in 1984 and is part of one of Australia’s leading allergen-friendly food manufacturers Roma Food Products.

The Vegan Easy Egg is available in Coles’ health foods section, independent retailers and health food stores Australia-wide for RRP $5.00.
