New Zealand peanut butter brand, Pic’s Peanut Butter has released a “goldilocks” blend of its two original spreads, Smooth and Crunchy: Pic’s ‘Smoochy’ Peanut Butter, designed to be “just right”.

The brand said the idea for Smoochy hac long been in the works, but it was when Pic Picot received a letter from budding food scientist, 10-year-old Maggie Mellors that the idea became a reality.

Mellors was concocting her own version of Smoochy at home by mixing Pic’s Peanut Butter Crunchy and Smooth in empty jars with the help of her dad. Wanting to share the idea with the rest of the world, she wrote a spirited letter to Picot.

Picot likens the new product to pineapple on pizza, and expects the combination of smooth and crunchy to spark debate.

“Aussies are fanatical about their peanut butter, so I’m sure Smoochy will spark some good old-fashioned debate and possibly heal a few family rifts,” said Picot.

Pic’s Smoochy Peanut Butter is available at Coles and Woolworths for RRP$7.50.

Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
