The Yarra Valley’s Oakridge Wines has launched Ovata, a non-vintage sparkling wine crafted by winemaker, Teresa Heuzenroeder.

The word Ovata is derived from the Latin word Ovatus, meaning ‘to rejoice, applaud, and celebrate’.

The team behind Ovata said the sparkling wine was crafted to have broad appeal, with each bottle fermented on lees for an average of 18 months, producing a rich sparkling wine, with aromas of apples, white flowers and brioche.

To create Ovata, Oakridge Wines selected parcels of sparkling Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietals.

Heuzenroeder and Oakridge Wines selected parcels of sparkling Chardonnay and Pinot Noir varietals to use in Ovata.

“Our intention was to create a lively and distinctive sparkling wine. The Yarra Valley is renowned for producing premier quality Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; with the cool climate providing ideal conditions for sparkling.

“For Ovata, we chose Chardonnay to take the lead in the blend resulting in a wine of finesse and elegance; yet balanced by an underlying approachability,” said Huezenroeder.

Designed to elevate every experience, Ovata is exclusively available at Dan Murphy’s and BWS with an RRP of $32 per bottle.
