A new beverage has hit Australian shelves, ready to help consumers feel good from the inside out. Cute Drinks Pretty Hot Margarita is described as a science-backed, non-alcoholic margarita formulated to support skin health and gut balance, without the sugar crashes and dehydration from a typical “getting ready” cocktail.

With functional beauty ingredients like collagen, hyaluronic acid, vitamin C and vitamin E, Cute Drinks is taking over the beverage scene. Food & Drink Business spoke with founder, Yvette Symon, to hear her take on the growing “beauty-from-within” trend. She told F&DB that the inspiration behind the launch was a personal desire for a product like Cute Drinks.

“Very simply I wanted this elixir in my fridge. I wanted to cut back on wine but still have a beverage that contained antioxidants and skin benefits,” said Symon.

“I thought, why is there not a tasty cocktail or non alc substitute that has beauty & wellness benefits, in a drink that’s not fake flavours and water? I knew what I wanted in this drink and what had been trending in the wellness supplement space, so I wanted to make that and make it real and healthy.”

Seeking out the best local suppliers to create the formula, Symon’s food science background and experience across the beverage industry helped her to make an immediate splash.

“The current market of non-alc functional drinks is very limited so I was happy to inject a new product into the market,” said Symon.

“We are now on ALM Connect and Paramount Liquor Marketplace, and in talks with distributors for a couple of states – but most sales are direct.

“Cute Drinks is only seven months into business and already we are sold in four states. We are ready for growth and trying to be in all states by Christmas. I have always wanted Cute Drinks to sit in bottle shops, venues, salons, day spas and grocers. My goal is Mecca and Sephora!” she said.

Cute Drinks is now available at cutedrinks.com.au for RRP $80.00 in a 16-can case, or $55.00 in a 10-pack.

Packaging News

While UN negotiations to deliver a legally binding plastics treaty have ended in deadlock, Australia remains aligned with the High Ambition Coalition and is progressing domestic efforts on plastics recycling infrastructure and circular economy policy – though decisive action on packaging reform remains stalled.

In line with growth in demand for pressure sensitive labels in SE Asia, UPM Adhesive Materials is expanding its label material factory in Malaysia, adding a new coating line alongside other facility upgrades.

The Australasian Institute of Packaging has become an executive member of the Asian Packaging Federation, as the institute continues to expand its provision of education and training in the region.
