Tasmanian distillery, Callington Mill, has launched the latest release in its Heritage Series – the Town Hall Single Malt Whisky – celebrating the iconic buildings of Oatlands.

Oatlands is one of Tasmania’s most historic townships, home to the largest collection of Georgian sandstone buildings over 150 years old in the southern hemisphere. Callington Mill stated the Heritage Series serves as an expression of the distillery’s deep connection to its township and history.

Bottled at cask strength (66.1 ABV), the Town Hall Single Malt whisky is produced in a strictly limited run, celebrating the Oatlands Town Hall, built by architect William Henry Lord in 1882. It delivers a bold, pure flavour profile of caramel, toffee and sweet dried fruit.

Callington Mill Distillery founder, John Ibrahim, said the town of Oatlands seems to have stood still in time, and that honouring of time is a quality the team aims to adhere to in whiskymaking.

“Driving down the main road of Oatlands, you get a real sense that it’s a place that truly values its history. You can’t come here without being amazed at the effort put into keeping that village feel. It’s like stepping back in time,” said Ibrahim.

The Town Hall Single Malt Whisky will be available online at callingtonmilldistillery.com and at the cellar doors in Oatlands and Hobart from nmid-February, for RRP $195.00.
