McCain Foods has added a new range of chips to the frozen potato category.

The Shake Shake range of potato chips feature new seasonings of Chicken, Cheese & Onion, and Salt & Vinegar in reponse to consumer demand for “bold-flavoured snacks”.

Product manager Simone Formisano said recent research by McCain revealed that 95 per cent of the frozen potato category was consumed as part of a main meal.

“We wanted to shake things up in the category by giving the potato a chance to take centre stage and become a key snacking solution,” she said.

Each bag of Shake Shake comes with a seasoning sachet that consumers pour into the bag, shake up, and then tip onto a tray to bake for about 20 minutes.

“Snack-based dinners, enjoyed on the couch or around the coffee table are currently trending, and we saw an opportunity to take Australia’s favourite flavours into the freezer aisle,” Formisano said.

RRP for the packs is $3.99.
