A new Australian brand has hit the functional beverage scene – Kidhy – with a goal to get children to drink more water. Hydra Helpa is the company’s debut product, scientifically formulated for kids as an alternative to sugary drinks.

Founded by longtime friends and Newcastle-based mums, Anna Wendtman and Danielle Campbell, Kidhy was born out of real-life parenting struggles.

“There are plenty of hydration products out there for gym-goers and run-clubbers, pregnant women or breastfeeding mums, but kids have completely different needs,” said Campbell.

Dehydration can impact mood, focus, memory and physical wellbeing. Current research shows that children aged 4 to 8 need around 1.2 litres of water per day, which can be difficult to achieve between fussy drinkers, busy school days and bug-filled daycare days.

“That’s why we created Kidhy. We wanted something kids actually want to drink, and parents can feel genuinely good about handing over,” said Wendtman.

The Hydra Helpa water infusions are packed with electrolytes for hydration, plus prebiotics and probiotics to support gut health, and are available in three flavours – Apple & Raspberry, Pineapple & Coconut, and Orange & Passionfruit.

Hydra Helpa is now available online at kidhy.com for RRP $49.95 in a 30-pack of sachets.
