Australian boutique coffee maker Hunt and Brew has launched an Australian-first ready-to-drink (RTD) cold cocoa single origin beverage, made using cocoa sourced from the Dominican Republic.

Hunt and Brew says following the success of its range nationally, the brand has taken a step outside of its core coffee range, and will now offer consumers a single origin cocoa drink with no added sugar.

Hunt and Brew manager, Emily Creer said consumer tastes were evolving, with young people in particular seeking out better-for-you alternatives with lower sugar.

“We know experience is important and people aren’t willing to compromise on taste or quality. Consumers will pay that little bit more for consistent high quality beverages and the convenience of the ready-to-drink space,” said Creer.

In traditional Hunt and Brew style, the new bottles feature a Boa Snake on pack, which is native to the Santo Domingo region of the Dominican Republic, where the cocoa is sourced.

“Each animal on pack reflects the local hunter of the region where our ingredients are sourced, and illustrated by Kerby Rosanes each bringing to life their unique predatory nature,” said Creer.

The Dominican Republic is well known as one of the world’s largest producers of cocoa, leading in export with premium markets globally due to its high-quality organic and fair trade beans.

The new cocoa beverage is also packaged in bottles made from 100 per cent recycled Australian plastic.

“We know our consumers are concerned about single use plastics and in addition to the container deposit scheme, we are doing what we can to close the loop and contribute to a circular economy,” said Creer.

The new Hunt and Brew Cocoa range will be available in Coles supermarkets and select convenience and independent stores nationally.
