El Toro’s latest innovation – El Toro Coconut Tequila – is launching this summer, as Australia cements itself as the fourth largest tequila market by revenue, in the world.

Vok Beverages brand manager, Eloise Penny, said the coconut release aimed to lower the entry barrier for curious drinkers, while still delivering the tequila characteristics wanted by bartenders and retailers.

“Australians already love coconut flavours; pairing that familiarity with tequila gives venues and bottle shops a fresh, premium option that works neat, over ice or mixed,” Penny said.

Made with El Toro Clásico as its base, El Toro Coconut Tequila, Penny said its versatility made it ideal for bars, retailers, and consumers, whether in tropical cocktails, tequila twists on classics, or simple at-home serves.

“The coconut-flavoured space has long been dominated by rum and vodka. Tequila is underrepresented here, which creates a genuine blue-ocean opportunity for El Toro to help define the coconut-tequila segment in Australia,” she said.

Domestic volume growth in the tequila category is projected at 4.36 per cent in 2025.

Its launch also reflects broader industry trends towards premiumisation and the growth of non-traditional luxury categories such as agave-based spirits, which are projected to be major drivers of the global alcohol industry in 2025 and beyond.

It has 35% ABV and comes in a 700mL bottle for RRP $70. It is available now via El Toro and Sippify. For trade enquiries, visit eltorotequila.com.au
