Darrell Lea and Nomad Brewing have joined forces to create the world’s first liquorice beer – the Darrell Lea Batch 37 Dark Chocolate Liquorice Stout.

The two Sydney based companies came to an agreement over a few drinks and some liquorice bullets to fuse their creations together. The brew needed 40,000 kilometres of Darrell Lea’s signature liquorice to get the blend just right.

The beer has been brewed on Sydney’s Northern Beaches at Nomad’s Brookvale brewery – and launched to celebrate Father's Day.

Darrell Lea general manager marketing Johanna Campbell said the beer was a great combination of Australian dad’s favourite products.

“For almost a century, Darrell Lea has been helping generations of Aussies create memories and shareable experiences with loved ones. Our soft-eating liquorice is a testament to our original recipe that is truly generational,” said Campbell.

The confectionary company has infused its iconic Batch 37 liquorice and a touch of natural liquorice flavour into the rich and creamy stout.

Nomad Brewing owner Kerrie Abba said they pride themselves on pushing the limits when it comes to beer varieties.

“I grew up munching on Darrell Lea’s Liquorice Bullets as my father used to own a pharmacy selling Darrell Lea products, so this collaboration really resonates with me a lot! We’re thrilled to work alongside an iconic Aussie brand to bring to life a craft beer that will excite many liquorice fans,” said Abba.

TheDarrell Lea Batch 37 Dark Chocolate Liquorice Stout is available on Nomad’s website and nationwide from selected retailers for RRP $11.00 per can.
