Cooper Brewery’s annual Vintage Ale turns 21 this year. As it come of age, the 2021 vintage features Cashmere, an American dual-purpose hop with citrus, fruity and floral notes.

Each year’s release is characterised by its hop selection. Last year it was Leabrook barley, and 2019 Compass barley.

Coopers managing director and chief brewer Dr Tim Cooper said the ale is eagerly awaited each year and he expected this release to be no different.

“We’ve chosen a unique combination of hops in its creation and the result is a rich, balanced and full-bodied ale with floral and spice characters, along with tones of citrus and stone fruit.

“The 2021 Vintage Ale drinks well immediately, and if stored under cellar conditions, will become more complex over time as its flavours evolve and develop,” Cooper said.

Coopers marketing and innovation director Cam Pearce said only a limited supply of kegs and cartons would be available nationally.

“Beer drinkers are thirsty for seasonal releases, which remain popular in Australia thanks to the rise of craft beer,” Pearce said.

“Vintage fans should get in early to ensure they don’t miss out.”

Coopers 2021 Vintage Ale is the 21st in the series of Vintage Ales that commenced in 1998.

Like all Coopers ales, the 2021 Vintage Ale undergoes secondary fermentation and natural conditioning. It retains an alcohol level of 7.5% ABV.

Coopers 2021 Vintage Ale in 355ml bottles is expected to be available in liquor outlets from late July, in six packs and cartons.
