In the lead up to winter, Mr Lee’s Pure Foods is launching instant congee – a savoury rice porridge – featured in two flavours.

Congee is a traditional pan-Asian staple food recipe and can be served in main forms. Usually it is prepared with rice, but other grains and beans can also be used, as well as countless combinations of ingredients to make the meal savoury or sweet.

The meal aims to improve digestive functions, as well increase energy, enhance sleep quality and help blood circulation.

Mr Lee’s Pure Foods founder and CEO Damien Lee said the team was excited to be expanding in the sector and bring congee to the world in a convenient format.

“I grew up eating it, but typically it takes hours of cooking at home to make a perfect Congee, we’ve made it to be ready in just three minutes and in a convenient cup format,” said Lee.

“So our instant congee helps time-poor people eat better, perfect for those who lead hectic lifestyles.”

Mr Lee’s instant congee has two flavour varieties – Original Congee Porridge and Chicken Congee Porridge – and is available from Harris Farm stores and online for RRP $4.00.
