Bickford’s Premium Plant Milk range is expanding its retail footprint, with its Macadamia Milk and Pistachio Milk now stocked in Woolworths in Victoria and New South Wales.

The company launched the range in October 2020 through independent grocery stores, with group sales and marketing manager Chris Illman saying the channel’s massive growth made the range a natural development for the company.

“When we launched, we were overwhelmed by the response from Australians who are becoming more focused on their health and the planet,” Illman said.

Sales of dairy alternatives have grown 48 per cent to 132 million litres in the past four years.

Bickford’s Premium Plant Milk range is produced at its South Australian HACCP accredited facility.

“The path to launching these milks was a complex, but exciting one, working out how best to extract the goodness and bottle it for freshness,” Illman said.

The range is manufactured, bottled, and warehoused at Bickford’s HAACP accredited South Australian Operations Centre. The company uses aseptic filling technology, which means the milks are preservative free while the flavour, colour, and nutritional integrity of the ingredients are optimised.

“With no artificial sweeteners or GMOs, each product has been extensively tested for multiple uses, ensuring the milk range performs like fresh milk and can be enjoyed hot or cold,” Illman said.

Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
