New Zealander Freestyle Hops,
grows intensely aromatic hops in
New Zealand’s pristine Nelson Valley.

Frenchies Brewery, the award-winning independent brewery in Sydney’s Rosebery, Hopsters Co-Op Brewery in Enmore, and New Zealander Freestyle Hops, which grow unique and intensely aromatic hops in New Zealand’s pristine Nelson Valley joined forces develop three beers, all showcasing the inimitable flavours of a Freestyle Hops grown hop.

These include a Hazy IPA, which features the Nelson Sauvin hop on a base of triticale, pale and wheat malts. Fruity, juicy, and refreshing, it offers bright grape, gooseberry, and complex fruit aromas.

The Cold IPA showcases the Kohia Nelson hop, which combines Motueka, Rakau, and New Zealand Cascade with New Zealand passionfruit. It reflects a new process that the Freestyle Hops team have been experimenting with, where they add botanicals to hops and produce a uniform pellet, which creates some really unexpected and tasty flavours.

This and more can be found in the Cold IPA, which Frenchies has integrated with maize, golden oats and pils.

The Dark IPA is the third beer in the series, and here the team shines a spotlight on the Rakau hop. This enticing IPA has an interesting, complex stone fruit character, and offers well-rounded background notes of tropical fruit and cannabis, all paired with malts including ale, roasted barley, torrefied wheat, and crystal.

Commenting on the series, Frenchies co-owner and head brewer Vincent de Soyres, said: “We’ve recently started using Freestyle Hops products and found them to be great to brew with. They produce unique flavours, both in profile and intensity, that our customers love.

“The Nelson Sauvin, Kohia Nelson and Rakau didn’t disappoint with this new range either, with each of the three beers offering a wholly unique taste and mouthfeel.

“Here at Frenchies we’re all about supporting and partnering with like-minded independent businesses and enjoy getting creative with special collab beers that appeal to beer fans. This is what inspired the range, and you can expect more collabs to drop throughout the year!”

All three beers in the series are now available on tap at Frenchies, and 330ml cans can be purchased in four packs, cases of 24 from the brewery, and through Frenchies online store.

They can also be found at Hopsters Co-Op Brewery, as well as a range of bars, restaurants and independent retailers, with 20L, 30L and 50L kegs available for commercial purchase.

Packaging News

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.

Pact has reported a decline in revenue and earnings for the first five months of FY26, citing subdued market demand, as chair Raphael Geminder pursues settlement of the long-running TIC earn-out dispute.
