Mondelez International is donating 1.1 million Cadbury Easter eggs through Foodbank Australia to distribute to disadvantaged families around Australia this Easter.
It's the third consecutive year in a row that Mondelez has partnered with Foodbank by donating Easter eggs to warehouses across the country to be collected by charities and community groups in time for Easter.
“Cadbury believes everyone deserves to experience the joy and happiness of Easter, and we are pleased to again partner with Foodbank Australia to make this happen,” said Stephanie Saliba, corporate affairs manager at Mondelez International.
John Webster, CEO Foodbank Australia, said for many families, not being able to participate in cultural and religious traditions such as Easter is very isolating.
“While our primary function is to provide nutritious and hearty meals, the organisations we work with regularly tell us how valued these kinds of donations are, lifting the spirits and providing the feeling of being included in the community.”
Welfare agencies and community groups have already commenced collecting the Cadbury Easter eggs to be distributed to their networks in time for Easter. One such community group is the National Centre for Indigenous Excellence in Redfern, Sydney.
“Our Afterschool Program provides education excellence, cultural support and social guidance to program participants, families and communities. Foodbank Australia provides much needed support and contribution to the program and also brings surprises around festive times such as Christmas and Easter.”
“We are extremely thankful to Cadbury and Foodbank for this opportunity to bring the joy of Easter to the children,” said April Long, Program Manager at the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence.
Cadbury also donates eggs to the major children’s hospitals nationally and has raised close to $1 million for the Good Friday Appeal through its sponsorship of the annual Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt at Werribee Park.
