Heat and Control is celebrating with its partner, Ishida, which has reached its 50th anniversary of multihead weighing. To commemorate the milestone, Ishida has released a new CCW-AS (Computer Combination Weighing-Advantage Series) multihead weigher.

In 1893, during a new age of industrial modernisation, Ishida became Japan’s first private weighing equipment manufacturer .

Multihead weighers were first introduced for agricultural applications, but are now an indispensable technology across a wide range of markets. As one of the industry's leading suppliers, Ishida's fixed quantity weighing solutions can now be found in use across many sectors, including dry and frozen food, fresh meat, poultry and fish, and pharmaceuticals.

According to Ishida, the advanced automation used in the new CCW-AS Series improves productivity and "raises the bar" in high-speed challenging weighing applications. It can also help improve manufacturing and packaging efficiencies as well as product quality and safety by reducing downtime and maximising the yield per hour, Ishida said.

This next generation model achieves an internal calculation of 0.01g weighing accuracy.

The use of smarter controls can reduce operator intervention and a reliance on labour, providing greater reliability in harsh environments.

Similarly, the smart tablet touchscreen's intuitive operation eases reliance on skilled operators. The advanced visual capabilities assist with operation, efficiency, and IoT connectivity and data handling capacity.

Reduced energy consumption and lower noise levels contribute to a more environmentally sustainable system. The hygienic design reduces chemical and water usage, improves food safety, and reduces cleaning time.

The CCW-AS Series can be used for:

  • Snack foods;
  • fresh produce, and salad;
  • meat, poultry, and seafood;
  • prepared foods;
  • meat alternative products;
  • frozen vegetables;
  • candy and confectionery;
  • baked snacks;
  • cheese;
  • french fries;
  • fruit;
  • pet food, and
  • pharmaceuticals.

 Heat and Control says it looks forward to its continued partnership with Ishida as it celebrate future anniversaries.

Packaging News

The World Packaging Organisation has named 234 winners for the WorldStar Packaging Awards 2026, which were selected from 481 entries submitted across 36 countries.

ACOR is calling on the Government to urgently introduce packaging reforms or risk the collapse of Australia’s plastic recycling sector and face millions of tonnes of plastic waste polluting the environment.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
