Food inspection technology manufacturer, Loma Systems, is showcasing its range of metal detection, X-ray inspection and checkweighing solutions at Chicago’s Pack Expo International from 3-6 November.

Loma’s systems are designed to help manufacturers maintain high production efficiency, ensure compliance, and improve their quality control processes. Featured products will include the IQ4 FLEX Conveyor, IQ4 Pipeline, IQ4 Waferthin and the IQ4 Vertical Fall.

The IQ4 Metal Detector series features variable frequency technology that allows for detection capabilities across a wide array of product conditions. With ingress ratings of up to IP69K, these detectors can be used in both high-care and low-care environments. The products also have a touchscreen interface to make setup easier.

For X-ray inspection solutions, Loma will present its newly enhanced X5 Space Saver Reject Conveyor. The X5 Space Saver, available in both 300mm and 500mm belt widths, provides CCP protection while taking up minimal space, with a line length of just 1000mm.

Featuring a re-engineered modular design to maximise functionality, this system is effective at detecting a range of hard and soft contaminants, including metals, bone, glass and dense plastics, across various packaging types like foil trays and metallised film.

Also on display will be Loma’s CW3 RUN-WET Combo System, a fully IP69 rated checkweigher and metal detector system designed with industry-leading hygienic principles to minimise downtime.

The CW3 RUN-WET Combo system, along with the standalone checkweigher, features a range of new and intelligently designed elements aimed at maximising production efficiency. These include frames that are easier to wash, quick surface water runoff, minimal welds and reduced contaminant traps for optimal deep cleaning.

All Loma Systems machines are built to withstand tough production and cleaning environments. The IQ4 Metal Detectors are UL Certified for Safety, providing impartial safety assurance for stakeholders in the United States and Canada.

Loma Systems has partnered with food and packaging companies around the world, located in over 100 countries. The Australian distributor for Loma is Inspection Systems in Victoria.

Packaging News

ACOR is calling on the Government to urgently introduce packaging reforms or risk the collapse of Australia’s plastic recycling sector and face millions of tonnes of plastic waste polluting the environment.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
