Industry 4.0 and factory automation processes which aim to deliver quick and accurate transfer of information can be affected by electromagnetic interference, which inhibits data transmission. Global cable company LAPP says data and control signals should be locked in a Faraday cage to create electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) compliant data transmission cables. By forming a continuous covering or mesh of conductive material, a Faraday cage blocks electromagnetic fields from entering its shielded area. This article first appeared in the October 2021 issue of Food and Drink Business.

LAPP’s Skintop Brush series of cable glands offer optimum EMC protection. Designed specifically as an ideal Faraday cage environment to protect cables from electromagnetic interference, the range comes in three EMC protection forms.

The Skintop MS-M Brush provides consistent EMC protection even after dismantling and re-installation due to the shielding braid not being damaged by the brass brush.

The Skintop Brush Add-On is the world’s first patented active EMC locknut, cutting into the enclosure and offering an optimal, low impendance 360 degrees shield contact, acting as an EMC extension.

The Skintop Brush Add-On 24 features a visible, large-area shield contact and an optimal, low resistance 360 degrees shield contact which has a simple dismantling process and is a suitable EMC protection supplement to cable bushing systems.

The ACCC has instituted court proceedings against Clorox Australia, owner of GLAD-branded kitchen and garbage bags, over alleged false claims that bags were partly made of recycled 'ocean plastic'.

In news that is disappointing but not surprising given the recent reports on the unfolding Qenos saga, the new owner of Qenos has placed the company into voluntary administration. The closure of the Qenos Botany facility has also been confirmed.

An agreement struck between Cleanaway and Viva Energy will see the two companies undertake a prefeasibility assessment of a circular solution for soft plastics and other hard-to-recycle plastics.
