The Western Australian government is investing $6 million to grow the state’s wine industry, through a new four-year partnership with Wines of Western Australia. The funding will be combined with $3 million from the Western Australian wine industry, collaborating to diversify export offerings and capture an increased share of the global marketplace.
The Western Australian Wine Industry Partnership will be industry-led, and will work to expand local, national, and export market opportunities, while building long term industry sustainability for wine producers.
This includes supporting activations that promote Western Australian wines to potential buyers, supporting and promoting supply chain relationships, expanding market access, and building business readiness.
The initiative takes a ground-up approach to building sustainability, including research and development aimed at improving production, building business resilience and workforce capability, and reinforcing environmental, social, and governance credentials.
Western Australian regional development minister, Stephen Dawson, said the state produces some of the finest wines in the world, thanks to its innovative wine makers.
“A thriving wine industry has flow on benefits for regional jobs and tourism opportunities, that's why we made an election commitment to further bolster this industry,” said Dawson.
“This partnership will leverage those gains to expand domestic and international export sales, while building industry resilience and capacity to adapt to the changing operating environment. Working alongside our partners, more consumers at home and abroad will be able to savour our State's premium quality wines and discover what our unique wine regions have to offer.”
The Western Australian government has continued to support its food and beverage companies through programs including the Agrifood and Beverage Voucher program, and its Value Add Investment Grant program.
