Winners of the 2025 South Australian Premier’s Business and Export Awards, which feeds into the Australian Export Awards in November, were announced last week – including several food and beverage companies.

Almondco Australia came out on top, receiving both the South Australian Exporter of the Year and Regional Exporter Awards. The grower co-operative represents over 80 per cent of Australia’s almond growers, and has been supplying premium almond products globally since 1944 – recognised for its consistent quality as demand for plant-based foods rises.

The Regional Business of the Year Award went to Blue Lake Milling, a leading producer of premium oat and grain products since 1863. The Business Chamber stated the company’s flexible, customer-first approach – partnering with retailers and food brands around the globe to deliver products at competitive prices – is what set them apart.

Munda Wines received the inaugural First Nations Exporter Award, a new category in 2025. By acknowledging Traditional Countries through wine, the company stated it hopes to offer something both accessible and meaningful: a conversation that begins in the glass, but reaches far beyond it.

Family owned yoghurt producer, The Yoghurt Shop, took out the Agribusiness, Food and Beverages Export Award for the second year running. The company expanded into Saudi Arabia at the end of 2024, bringing its all-natural Greek yoghurt to one of the country’s largest supermarket chains.

Barossa Valley winery, Château Tanunda, received the South Australian Wine Exporter Award. Managing director, Michelle Geber, said it was an honour to accept the award as the company celebrates its 135th anniversary.

“We remain committed to sharing the very best wines of the Barossa, South Australia, and Australia with the world,” said Geber.

“We are driven by championing Barossa’s premium and luxury wines – telling the story of our unique soils, climate, and extraordinary old vines. This recognition is only possible thanks to our passionate team, our growers, and my family, whose dedication and commitment to Château Tanunda now sees us proudly represented in more than 35 countries worldwide."

Food & Drink Business also spoke with Geber earlier this year about wine export trends.

South Australian Business Chamber CEO, Andrew Kay, said the quality of submissions was incredibly strong this year.

“Choosing a winning business from the finalists was challenging across all categories, highlighting the growing number of innovative and high-achieving businesses that call South Australia home,” said Kay.
