Independent women-led brewery, Reckless Brewing, has completed a capital raise of more than $500 thousand through Birchal. Since releasing its first beer in late 2019, the company has opened a physical brewery and taproom in Bathurst, and is now ready to expand its national footprint.

The regional New South Wales brewery was founded by three friends back in 2017, and now produces a broad portfolio of Australian-made beers across cans and kegs.

Its premium craft brand, the Reckless Brewing Co. range, has been recognised at national competitions, including the Australian International Beer Awards and the Sydney Royal Beer & Cider Show. The brand also does special releases, such as the limited-edition Matilda XPA in 2024. All proceeds from the product were donated to local charity partner, the Central West Women’s Health Centre.

The company’s BX range now represents a significant portion of total production, and offers an approachable, easy-drinking beer designed for high-rotation venues and everyday consumption. Reckless Brewing also operates a Build-A-Beer white label service, producing custom-branded, award-winning beer for corporate clients, promotions and events, creating an additional revenue stream while leveraging existing brewing and packaging capability.

Recent growth has seen demand exceed supply capacity, with the business brewing approximately 15 per cent more than forecast over the past 12 months. This has highlighted the need to invest in additional production capacity, expand the sales team and support broader national distribution.

Reckless Brewing co-founder and head brewer, Grace Fowler, said in an industry still dominated by male voices, the company found that being women-led has been a major competitive edge, allowing the team to take advantage of a greater depth of knowledge and perspective.

“We’re now three years into our 10 year plan to make Reckless Brewing one of the top 10 independent breweries in Australia, and one of the largest women-led breweries in the world,” said Fowler.

“There’s so much more potential for growth through expanded and new retail venues, to accessing other major markets throughout Australia that we haven’t even touched yet. And we want to invite you to join us as we continue to build our momentum and challenge the old status quo – that beer is brewed by men, for men.

“With exceptional growth since inception, we’re excited for what lies ahead but even more excited to have you join us on this journey,” she said.

With more than 200 investors now onboard, Reckless Brewing’s successful equity raise will support the company in building the foundations of a national presence – strengthening its presence in New South Wales and expanding into new markets.
