Pure Foods Tasmania (PFT) cut its quarterly operating cash outflow by 69 per cent to $311,000 in the three months to 30 September, as customer receipts rose 60 per cent and manufacturing costs fell.
Customer receipts reached $1.22 million, up from $764,000 in the September 2025 quarter. The company said the growth came largely from acquisitions and new customers.
Manufacturing and operating payments fell 23 per cent to $797,000. Administration and corporate payments dropped 31 per cent to $265,000. Staff costs were $468,000.
The outflow was $692,000 lower than a year earlier, but it had negative cash of $381,000 at quarter end, made up of a negative bank balance of $272,000 and a $109,000 overdraft, compared with negative $220,000 at the end of June.
PFT drew $309,000 in new borrowings and repaid $159,000 during the quarter. It has $1.41 million in unused financing facilities, giving total available funding of $1.03 million, or 3.3 quarters at the current burn rate. Total facilities of $4.51 million were $3.1 million drawn at quarter end.
The Hobart-based company owns Woodbridge Smokehouse, Tasmanian Pâté, Daly Potato Co, Brilliant Food Australia and an ice cream division.
Robert Knight took over as managing director and CEO on 1 July. Knight, the company’s largest shareholder, had been sales and marketing director since June 2025. In that role, he expanded PFT’s Coles footprint from about 300 to 800 stores, won back Costco as a customer and led the acquisitions of Elato and Brilliant Food Australia.
PFT appointed an operations manager in June and a head of sales in late September, which it said frees Knight to focus on strategy and business development.
For the December quarter, which includes Christmas and summer trading, PFT will focus on converting its sales pipeline into confirmed orders and pursuing retail, distribution and contract manufacturing opportunities. It also aims to lift production volumes and plant utilisation while keeping costs and working capital tight.
The company said the result was “a meaningful step towards sustainable positive operating cash flow”.
