With the world's largest processing and packaging exhibition, interpack, just closed last week, a number of exhibitors will be bringing their latest innovations to Australia at foodpro, Australia's largest food manufacturing exhibition.

UK filling and sealing specialist for preformed containers, Trepko, is making its first Australian exhibition debut at Foodpro. Speaking to Food & Drink Business at interpack, Trepko sales engineer, John Pickering, said the company was pleased with the number of enquiries from Australian food manufacturers visiting interpack.

Trepko offers both rotary and in-line filling and sealing solutions; it also supplies thermoforming machinery and a range of end-of-line solutions from wraparound packers through to gantry palletisers.

“Our labour-saving machines are highly attractive for the Australian manufacturing environment,” he said. “We'll certainly be furthering these discussions when we're on the ground at foodpro,” he said.

Serac MD Asia Pacific, Phillipe De Sarrazin, said his company will be exhibiting the exciting new RollNBlow bottle blowing technology on its Australian partner Icon Equipment's stand at foodpro.

“It's an ideal solution for on-site, in-line bottle forming, branding and filling for companies with small volume runs, and bottle sizes from 100ml to 500ml,” he said.

Designed to integrate directly with a liquid filler, the RollNBlow solution uses rolls of either polystyrene or polypropylene to form the sheet into a pipe before then heating and blow-forming the bottle in a mould. The formed bottles show no difference to conventionally blown bottles, but are not limited to designs with large necks and can even be shaped completely round.

“With growth in the dairy market, and opportunities opening up for Australian producers in Asia, Australia has become a significant market for Serac,” De Sarrazin said.

Global company Heat and Control, a strong player in the Australian food processing and packaging sector, had a successful interpack with high interest in its new Revolution Mid Gate technology for snack product handling. The company will showcase both packaging and plant equipment, including Ishida's new QX-755-Flex high performance tray sealer range able to handle packs of almost any shape or material; and the TOMRA QVision 500 analyser for the meat and protein sector and designed to measure fat and lean, protein, collagen and moisture with outstanding accuracy.

Global closures expert Zip-Pak is confident the interest it had from Australian visitors at interpack in its new closure systems is a foretaste of what's to come at foodpro. On the ITW Zip-Pak stand at foodpro, it will be highlighting the new Zip360 in its range of Vector resealable matrix solutions. The benefits of Zip 360 include easy access to package contents through an innovative wide opening and pour-spout functionality for easy product dispensing.
