The winners of the 2024 Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards have been announced, celebrating over 500 food producers across the country. The presentation took place on 3 October at the MasterChef Kitchen, Melbourne Showgrounds, where 16 Champion Trophies were awarded.

Open to commercial food producers of all sizes, the Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards is one of the largest programs of its kind, showcasing Australia's most successful food products and brands across three distinctive food categories: Dairy, Preserves and new for 2024, Smallgoods.

The Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards returned in 2023 after a three-year hiatus, and have been refining the category system to better reflect the “needs, wants and expectations of Australian food producers”. The team announced the changes for 2024 when entries opened in March.

Judged by 43 industry experts with the support of 22 stewards, the awards provide a unique and valuable opportunity for Australian food producers to have their products and produce tested to improve quality and inspire innovation.

Over 500 Melbourne Royal Gold, Silver and Bronze medals were awarded, alongside 16 Champion Trophies, of which Victorian producers picked up 11, New South Wales took home two, while Western Australia, Queensland and Tasmania won one each. However, three of the categories were only for Victorian producers.

Melbourne Royal CEO, Brad Jenkins, emphasised that the awards offer producers nationwide an invaluable benchmarking and marketing opportunity.

“The Melbourne Royal Australian Food Awards proudly acknowledge, celebrate and inspire innovation in Australian food products, produce and producers,” said Jenkins.

“It’s an opportunity for producers to experience an invaluable benchmark opportunity to improve quality, inspire innovation and market medal-winning products using the Melbourne Royal seal of excellence, and we thank all producers, judges, stewards and volunteer staff for their support.”
