Start-up climate change program WorkForClimate launched this week to give professionals and corporations resources to tackle the climate crisis in their day-to-day work lives.

Founded by Bryan J Rollins, a former general manager at Atlassian, its focus is on creating change in the corporate sector.

The start-up’s mission is to accelerate the corporate transition away from fossil fuels by guiding businesses and employees to commit to climate goals across four categories - energy, emissions, money and lobbying, that will ultimately have a positive impact on the planet and their business.

The program is incubated by the Australian-founded, not-for-profit organisation The Sunrise Project.

Lucy Piper, former Global Head of Creative at Intrepid Group, has been appointed to lead the initiative as director for WorkForClimate.

“We were inspired by the global school strikes movement and asked ourselves, how can older generations take action? This crisis shouldn't all fall onto Gen Z,” Piper said.

“Our focus is making climate action accessible to help guide professionals on their journey to make significant change. In our experience, individual employees have the power to drive ambitious initiatives and inspire others to make their corporation a better one,” she said.

WorkForClimate has developed resources to have the most significant impact on corporate decarbonisation, including: live, guided Cohort programs; comprehensive, step-by-step playbooks; and an online Slack Community

“While this is often seen as a complex and polarising topic, it really shouldn’t be. Our aim is to simplify climate action for climate-concerned professionals at the beginning of this critical decade for the crisis,” said Piper.

The programs and resources are based on the methodologies of the most disruptive and innovative start-ups and are designed to harness the energy of individual employees, guiding them through every step of the process to make these big changes within their organisation, faster.
