The Brewers Association of Australia (BAA) has appointed Mick Gibb as its new chief executive officer, effective 28 September 2026, following Amanda Watson stepping down from the position in February.
“I am excited to be joining the Brewers Association of Australia at such an important time for the industry,” said Gibb.
“Beer is deeply woven into Australia's social fabric and makes a substantial contribution to communities, employment, agriculture, manufacturing, hospitality and tourism across the country. It’s pleasing that the draught beer excise has been frozen for two years, but there is more work for us to do in getting a better deal for beer drinkers.
“I look forward to working closely with our members, governments and stakeholders to champion the beer industry, promote responsible consumption, and ensure the contribution of Australian brewing continues to be recognised and celebrated,” he said.
Gibb brings more than 13 years of experience spanning chief executive leadership, government relations, public policy, stakeholder engagement and strategic communications across industry associations, financial services, technology and politics. He joins BAA from his role as the Night Time Industries Association CEO.
BAA chair, James Brindley, said Gibb’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for the organisation.
“We are delighted to welcome Mick as chief executive officer of the Brewers Association of Australia,” said Brindley.
“The Australian brewing industry plays an important role in our economy, our communities and our culture. Mick's proven track record in leading industry organisations, driving growth and championing reform makes him exceptionally well placed to lead the Brewers Association and advocate for the future of Australian brewing.”
