Woolworths is going big for the Easter season, with another new product announcement – the limited edition Hot Cross Bun Mudcake.

Developed by the Woolworths Bakery team, the newest mudcake flavour has iconic spices and plump sultanas from a traditional hot cross bun, is topped with a spiced white choc ganache, and hand finished with more sultanas.

It joins the iconic mudcake range, which sells over 2.6 million cakes per year – or five every minute. The Hot Cross Bun Mudcake also expands Woolworths’ Easter releases, which have this year included its regular range of over ten flavours, plus a new collaboration with American bakery chain, Cinnabon.

Woolworths cake category manager, Laura Mcleod, said the company’s latest mudcake innovation combines the warmth and spice of a traditional hot cross bun with the Woolworths iconic caramel mudcake base.

“We can't wait for this one to arrive in the coming weeks,” said McLeod.

The Hot Cross Bun Mudcake will be available in Woolworths stores and online from 19 March, for RRP $7.00.
