Woolworths Group has appointed Annette Karantoni as the new chief supply chain officer and Primary Connect managing director. 

Karantoni will formally transition from her current role of Woolworths director of B2C ecommerce in February 2022 and will also join Woolworths Group executive committee. 

Having spent 20 years in various roles across Woolworths, Karantoni has been at the forefront of the development and investment blueprint for the group’s supply chain network. Karantoni has also been in senior roles in supermarkets buying, marketing and replenishment. 

Woolworths Group CEO Brad Banducci said Karantoni has had an excellent performance in expanding the company’s ecommerce business over the past 18 months. 

“As we continue to expand our retail ecosystem, our supply chain network will be critical to both the foundations and future aspirations of our business. 

“Our distribution centres are an essential link in the nation’s food and grocery supply chains and we’re continuing to invest in our network to improve range, service levels and resilience,” said Banducci. 

Creating logistic services from start to finish for its own retail business and an expanding number of external partners, Primary Connect is Woolworths’ supply chain arm. 

“Annette joins a very strong team at Primary Connect, who have demonstrated safety and service leadership throughout the pandemic. I look forward to seeing them build our next generation supply chain in the years ahead,” said Banducci. 

The supermarket giant’s current chief supply chain officer Chris Brooks will remain in the role until Karantoni transitions and WooliesX managing director Amanda Bardwell will continue her overall responsibility for Australian Food ecommerce.
