Wine industry event, The Australian Wine Industry Technical Conference (AWITC) & Trade Exhibition (AWITE), is returning to Adelaide this month.

AWITE, AWITC and the WFA Outlook Conference will take place from Sunday, 24 July to Thursday, 28 July at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Together they will provide a comprehensive education program of plenary sessions and workshops for grapegrowers, winemakers and management, according to organisers.

AWITE will also showcase the latest wine technology, equipment and services, and in many cases provide a first-look at some of the latest products.

“Attendees will have the chance to perfect their grapegrowing, winemaking and wine storing processes by meeting with industry leading suppliers,” Fair Events managing director, Gary Fitz-Roy says.

Some of the new products on show include:

  • Seguin Moreau Australasia's new product, the Oenofirst Finisher, which reduces oak contact time up to two weeks
  • Greenstream Systems' new stainless steel Optima Steamer
  • Sphere Foods' Australian launch of its Natural Crystal Red
  • Wine Barrel Cleaning's demo of steam deep cleans to rehydrate and sterilise barrels through a ‘barrel window’ on-stand demonstration.

Packaging News

Asahi Beverages says all plastic soft drink bottles it produces in Australia are now made from 100 per cent recycled plastic, excluding caps and labels. The conversion covers 350 million bottles a year.

Australian-headquartered, global fibre-based packaging manufacturer The Detmold Group has opened a 19,000-square-metre manufacturing and warehousing facility in India.

Orora’s Australian cans operation has delivered another year of strong growth, helping the packaging group maintain steady underlying earnings despite challenging conditions across the glass market.
