A family-owned wine company in South Australia is half-way through installing a cost-saving commercial solar system with 5384 panels.

Yalumba Wine Company is working with AGL on the 1.4 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) system installation across three Barossa locations: Yalumba Angaston winery, Oxford Landing Winery, and the Yalumba Nursery.

The project has been designed to deliver savings and reduce the company's impact on the environment.

The system is expected to help Yalumba reduce its energy costs by about 20 per cent each year, producing close to 2000 MWh of renewable energy.

This renewable energy generation will abate more than 1100 tonnes of CO2 emissions annually.
