A video to inspire industry and individuals to make a difference promotes a holistic approach to creating a better future which involves business, consumers and government working together, Wiley managing director Tom Wiley told Food & Drink Business. Its Better Future clip was unveiled at the recent Australian Food & Grocery Council conference.

“Our vision and our responsibility is to inspire our entire community to talk about a better way. Success is everyone seeking better ways together as a community every day.

“Why we are in business and the way we go about it are very important to us at Wiley. We seek out ways to live and honour what we value. This video has given us a platform to share with the world the great opportunities and challenges our world faces. It is up to every one of us to step up and find a better way,” he told F&DB.

The video was a team effort, featuring Wiley staff members and their ideas for a better world. “Our culture is who we are together, so any vision for a better way was always going to be a team creation. We had a bunch of our people volunteer to share their passion and our vision on camera. Their enthusiasm made me feel very proud,” he says.

According to Wiley, the next steps are to continue inspiring people to make a difference.

“I believe to change the world, you only have to inspire change in one person. With that in mind, we will continue to inspire everyone we can, one by one. This is how we will make a difference and find a better way together,” Wiley says.

The company has implemented a number of internal projects along these lines as well, including housing a bee colony on the roof of its Brisbane HQ; building Australia’s largest charity kitchen at cost; and investing in personal development such as its Leadership Effectiveness Authenticity Program.
