The first weekly international flight from Toowoomba will start next month and promises to open new export links for Queensland producers and processors.

Cathay Pacific Cargo will operate a weekly international Boeing 747-8F service out of Brisbane West Wellcamp Airport from November 22, and the passenger flight will have a capacity of over 100 tonnes per flight.

The regular service to Hong Kong comes a year after the first test international freight flight last November carrying mangoes, pecans, lettuce and beef to Hong Kong.

The service will initially depart from Sydney, then land in Melbourne, with a final stop in Toowoomba before the nine-hour direct flight to Hong Kong.

Food and beverage plant design and construction company Wiley said it will have two of its team, Michael Fung and Michael Matthewson, on the inaugural international chartered passenger flight to Shanghai with Qantas on Sunday.

They are heading over to Shanghai as part of the Access China Tour with TSBE to explore the opportunities available to local food processors, to take their produce to the world, quicker than ever before.

Aspects of the tour include investigating infrastructure and facilities in China to support export as well as thoroughly understanding the entire supply chain.
