The Western Australian government is supporting the state’s agrifood and beverage sector to accelerate, with applications now open for round seven of the Agrifood and Beverage Voucher Program, with $700,000 in funding available.

The program supports small and medium-sized food and beverage operators to access professional advice to accelerate business growth, and take their operations to the next level. The latest round has taken state funding from $500,000 in 2024 to $700,000 in 2025, offering opportunities for more local businesses to apply and grow.

Since the program's inception in 2018, more than 430 WA businesses have benefited from $2.4 million worth of vouchers – spanning meat and seafood, honey, health food, olives, coffee, pasta, specialty foods, herbs and spices, dairy, tea, beer, wine and spirits. The program has also leveraged $3.4 million in industry investment via co-contributions.

Businesses can apply for vouchers of up to $10,000 across five categories, including business planning, manufacturing for business growth, sales and marketing, financial health, and environmental sustainability and social responsibility.

Western Australian Minister for Agriculture and Food, Jackie Jarvis, said the program has a great track record for helping businesses across the state to take the next steps in operations and to realise business goals.

“Importantly, the program promotes value-adding of our state's great agricultural produce and supports our local food and beverage sector so more Western Australian products can be made in Western Australia,” said Jarvis.

“These vouchers will help businesses to overcome challenges, reduce risks, improve green credentials and capture opportunities – creating lasting benefits to local communities and economies.

“I encourage all WA agrifood and beverage operators to examine how the voucher program can benefit their business,” she said.

Packaging News

The World Packaging Organisation has named 234 winners for the WorldStar Packaging Awards 2026, which were selected from 481 entries submitted across 36 countries.

ACOR is calling on the Government to urgently introduce packaging reforms or risk the collapse of Australia’s plastic recycling sector and face millions of tonnes of plastic waste polluting the environment.

As 2025 draws to a close, it is clear the packaging sector has undergone one of its most consequential years in over a decade. Consolidation at the top, restructuring in the middle, and bold innovation at the edges have reshaped the industry’s horizons. At the same time, regulators, brand owners and recyclers have inched closer to a new circular operating model, even as policy clarity remains elusive.
