Reported cases of salmonella in its seasonal Easter Kinder Surprise eggs in Belgium has prompted Ferrero to recall four seasonal products in Australia.

Ferrero is co-operating with the NSW Food Authority and said while no Kinder products in Australia have tested positive for the bacteria it was taking the situation “extremely seriously”.

The recalled products, manufactured in Belgium, are:

  • Kinder Surprise Easter Basket (yellow foil wrapper) with Best Before Dates between 7 October and 20 November 2022;
  • Kinder Mini Eggs Hazelnut 100g; and
  • Kinder Surprise Maxi 100g products with Best Before Dates between 23 August and 13 September 2022.

The Kinder Surprise 20g single and three-pack eggs in white, blue, and pink varieties sold in Australia are manufactured in Italy and are not affected.

All other Ferrero products, including other Kinder products, are not affected by this recall, the company said.
