Tongala Nutrition has received a $1.5 million government grant through the new $150 million Victorian Investment Fund. The funding will support the company’s expansion, creating more than 40 new jobs in the region.

The Victorian Investment Fund was established in 2025 to fast-track strategic investments across the state, with a dedicated $50 million regional stream.

After acquiring a dairy processing facility in Tongala from Nestlé, Tongala Nutrition began manufacturing nutritionals and UHT liquid products in 2023. The plant has over 100 years of history, and is equipped with Tetra Pak processing and packaging machinery.

The Victorian government grant will support the company to upgrade technology and infrastructure, adding sustainable energy systems, new production equipment, and freight and supply-chain facilities. Tongala Nutrition also received export certification last year from the federal government, enabling growth for both its domestic and international markets.

Tongala Nutrition founder and CEO, Siddharth Jani, said: “This project represents a significant milestone for Tongala Nutrition as we continue to build a world-class dairy and nutrition manufacturing platform in regional Victoria”.

Minister for Economic Growth and Jobs, Danny Pearson, said: “Tongala Nutrition’s expansion is a big win for regional Victoria and our dairy industry – and it shows how this Fund is catalysing business investment to drive economic growth and competitive advantage”.

The Victorian town also recently completed an upgrade of Greenham Australia’s Tongala abattoir, which received state government funding in 2021. Reaching full operational capacity in October 2025, the company stated the facility created 270 new jobs, nearly doubled production, and landed contracts with Woolworths and McDonalds.
