Thomas Farms Kitchen (TFK) and Drakes Supermarkets have teamed up in South Australia to create a new retail category: ready to cook meal packs.

The 'grab and go' Recipe Bags contain fresh ready-to-cook meals of exact proportions from Thomas Farms Kitchen and have been exclusively launched with Drakes Supermarkets.

The Recipe Bags come in six different delicious recipes, with all ingredients sourced from the highest quality local produce, to make an effortless and affordable dinner at home in as little as 20 minutes.

The Thomas Farms Kitchen Recipe Bags are on sale for $20 as a special introduction offer, with a RRP of $25.

The range includes recipes and ingredients for Beef Rump with Brava Potato, Korean BBQ Beef Bowl, Perfect Zesty Chicken, Lamb Chops and Green Olive Mash, Chicken & Green Peppercorn with Pearl Barley, and Roast Lamb with Sweet Potato.

The initial participating stores are at Glen Osmond, Newton, Blackwood, Hallett Cove, Fulham and Golden Grove with plans to roll out the product range across more group stores in SA soon.

Darren Thomas, the CEO of Thomas Foods International, the company behind TFK, said: “The ready-to-cook category is already well established overseas and we see it expanding rapidly across Australia in the coming years in line with our nation’s changing shopping and eating habits.”

Drakes Supermarkets managing director Roger Drake said the local supermarket group said the offering was a first for South Australian supermarket shoppers.

“Shoppers are used to microwave meals but the new ready-to-cook product range is combining that convenience with the attraction of easy cooking in your own kitchen.

“We see ready-to-cook meals as one of the fastest growing food categories of the future. Thomas Farms Kitchen already is a leader in the online delivery of these products but now with Drakes Supermarkets, you can pick them up in the aisle.

“With the fresh ingredients and great easy-to-follow recipes you’ll be happy to stay in and to cook a delicious hearty meal without any wastage.”
