Tasmanian salmon producer Tassal is in environmentalists' cross-hairs over its disclosure around fish mortality in Macquarie Harbour.

 

The company failed to report a rise in fish deaths to the State Government within the required time frame under its licence, according to documents released to the ABC, according to an ABC Rural report.

 

ABC Rural reported that the documents, which were only released after an ombudsman inquiry, showed that in February 2015, Tassal notified the Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and the Environment it was seeing mortalities of more than 0.25 per cent a day in pens at one of its leases in Macquarie Harbour.
