Industrial automation and digital transformation company, Rockwell Automation, has appointed Adrian Giecco as its South Pacific regional director, effective from 1 July. He takes over from Anthony Wong, who was recently promoted to Asia Pacific vice president – enterprise software sales and consulting services.

Giecco joined Rockwell Automation in 2012 as a solution architect in Victoria, Australia. He’s since held roles of increasing responsibility including business manager for Controllers and I/O Asia Pacific, and later, business manager for Architecture and Software in South Pacific. Since 2020, he has served as the director of Software and Control for the Asia Pacific region, based out of Singapore.

Giecco will relocate to Melbourne to commence the new role, leading the company’s presence in Australia, New Zealand, and the South Pacific.

Rockwell Automation recently released its 2025 State of Smart Manufacturing (SoSM) Report of the region, which suggested targeted investment in digital technologies and workforce upskilling is essential to reform local productivity and enhance sovereign capability.

“I’m thrilled to be returning to the region at such a pivotal moment for manufacturers and producers,” said Giecco.

“Rockwell is well positioned to unlock new value through our innovations, deep domain expertise, and strong partner ecosystem. I’m excited to lead this incredible team, strengthen existing relationships, and explore new partnerships as we help shape the future of industrial operations.

“With our premier event, ROKLive, being held July 29-31 on the Gold Coast, I’m ready to hit the ground running and make connections with valued partners, customers, end-users, and colleagues,” he said.

Australia has stepped firmly onto the global stage in support of an ambitious treaty to end plastic pollution, with Environment Minister Murray Watt announcing the nation’s commitment during the United Nations Ocean Conference in France. Meanwhile, local environmental leaders are urging the government to back its global words with accelerated domestic action.

Plastic resin made from recycled milk and juice bottles at a Pact-operated recycling facility in Melbourne meets US FDA safety requirements for use in HDPE food and drink packaging.

Packaging and IT recycling operation Close the Loop anticipates its second half EBITDA will fall by 50 per cent compared to the first half, on revenue that at around $99m will be similar to the first six months.
