Indian FMCG company, Reliance Consumer Products (RCP), has entered the Australian market by acquiring a majority stake in local better-for-you beverage business, Goodness Group Global.
RCP will have a controlling interest in the Sydney-headquartered company, which is best known for its Nexba brand. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
The deal includes RCP supporting the expansion of Goodness Group’s flagship brands, including Nexba and Pace, into new international markets, with a particular focus on India. PACE is a hydration brand co-created with Australian cricket captain Pat Cummins.
RCP director, T Krishnakumar, said the deal was a significant step in the company’s global ambitions.
“This strategic partnership is a bold step towards establishing RCP as a global FMCG company from India. The addition of Goodness Group’s health-focused consumer brands like Nexba and Pace will add strength to RCP’s healthy beverages portfolio,” he said.
Krishnakumar said RCP’s supply chain and distribution capabilities would be leveraged to accelerate the availability of Goodness Group brands across new markets, while supporting the company’s focus on affordable, health-oriented products.
Goodness Group founder, Troy Douglas, said the partnership would support the company’s next phase of growth.
“RCP is one of the fastest growing players and a leading FMCG company. In RCP, we have found an incredibly strong and sophisticated partner as part of our evolution as we become a global player in up to 50 western markets over the next five years,” Douglas said.
Founded in Australia, Goodness Group operates in Australia and 21 international markets. Its portfolio includes Nexba, positioned around gut health and made using the company’s proprietary plant-based zero-calorie sweetener Goodsweet, as well as protein beverage brand Bison and liquid breakfast range Good Brekkie.
The acquisition further strengthens RCP’s health-focused beverage portfolio. It has already expanded into markets including the UAE, Qatar, Oman, Bahrain, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
RCPL said the transaction reinforces its strategy of combining global quality standards with local market insights, while positioning the group as an emerging global FMCG player with a growing footprint beyond India.
