The New South Wales government is supporting 10 Aboriginal-owned enterprises and five regional producers from across the state to represent New South Wales at Fine Food Australia 2026, taking place from 31 August-3 September at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre.

Expressions of interest are now open from food and beverage businesses across the state that wish to attend, offering the chance to meet face-to-face with buyers, connect with distributors and put their products in front of a national audience.

Fine Food Australia attracts more than 25,000 industry professionals from across the retail, food service and hospitality sectors – an opportunity to connect with national and international buyers. Held annually and alternating between Melbourne and Sydney, this trade-only event connects professionals with the latest in food innovation, equipment, and ideas.

The New South Wales government will bring the 15 successful businesses together in a 135-square metre space designed to maximise visibility and impact – the Flavours of NSW zone. It lowers the cost of participation while giving exhibitors direct access to buyers and new market opportunities, helping turn conversations on the stand into real commercial outcomes.

Participating businesses will also be invited to attend a series of online Trade Show Readiness workshops in July, and a targeted networking event held during the exhibition. They will also be offered support to engage with other state government programs, including the Going Global Export Program.

Investment New South Wales executive director, David Camerlengo, said Fine Food Australia allows New South Wales based businesses to showcase products in a highly competitive national marketplace, and gain valuable insights from buyers and industry leaders.

“The experience helps businesses understand market expectations, strengthen their offering and build confidence engaging with major retailers and distributors,” said Camerlengo.

“We regularly see businesses build momentum through the connections they make at the event, using it as a springboard to expand distribution networks, secure new customers and explore export opportunities. These connections are critical for businesses looking to scale and compete beyond their local markets.”

It's not the first time the New South Wales government has helped local businesses attend the trade show, with financial support offered to 18 businesses for Fine Food Australia 2025, and 12 supported in 2024 – last time the show was in Melbourne.

Aboriginal-owned food and beverage businesses will be a key focus for the state government this year, with the initiative supporting improved access to metropolitan, interstate and international markets, including Melbourne’s major retail, hospitality and distribution networks.

New South Wales Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development acting executive director regional economic development, Craig Jenkins, said Fine Food Australia is a powerful platform for producers, connecting businesses with new commercial opportunities with retailers and distributors, increased visibility of New South Wales and Aboriginal-owned brands, and potential export and investment opportunities.

“By backing regional and Aboriginal-owned food and beverage businesses to take part, we’re opening doors to new customers, stronger supply chains and increased visibility in national markets – creating pathways for export and long-term investment that benefit not only the businesses taking part, but their communities across the state,” said Jenkins.

“With limited exhibitor spaces available, I encourage food and beverage producers, manufacturers, value adders and distributors to put their best foot forward and apply for our EOI to showcase their products and build valuable connections beyond regional NSW.”
