Red Bull Australia has returned to profit growth after four years of contraction in the hotly contested energy drinks market.

 

Red Bull is the world-leading energy drink brand but in Australia is second in the market behind Frucor's V brand. The third biggest brand is Monster Energy drinks which are sold by Coca-Cola Amatil in Australia, according to a Fairfax Media report.

 

Last year the company reported its third annual profit fall in a row - its $7.18 million net profit after tax for the year to December 31, 2014 was three per cent lower than the previous year.

 

This year, however, Red Bull Australia saw a 58 per cent rise in net profit after tax to $11.4 million to December 2015, and its revenues climbed by 9 per cent to $217 million, with further rises forecast for the current year.

Asahi Beverages says all plastic soft drink bottles it produces in Australia are now made from 100 per cent recycled plastic, excluding caps and labels. The conversion covers 350 million bottles a year.
