At the 2025 IFFA DVA International Product Competition in Frankfurt, Germany, Queensland-based family-owned smallgoods company, Borgo Salumi, did the country proud, winning 21 awards for the 18 products it entered.

The awards are only held every three years, hosted by the German Butchers’ Association and judged at IFFA, one of the world’s largest meat industry trade fairs. They are designed to recognise the highest standards of craftsmanship and quality in meat products globally.

Borgo Salumi won three Platinum trophies, 13 Gold medals, three Silver, and two Bronze. The rare Platinum trifecta was for its Friulano Salame, Salame al Prosciutto and Pistachio, and Free Range Prosciutto Borgo.

Platinum is the highest accolade in the competition. When a product is awarded Gold and the judges believe it is truly outstanding, it is re-assessed for possible Platinum recognition. Its characteristics must be exceptional in quality, flavour, and craftmanship.

Owner Luigi Borgo and son Anthony Borgo were in Frankfurt to accept the awards, which followed the company’s recent success at the Australian Charcuterie Excellence Awards, where it won the Category Champions Trophy.

Luigi Borgo said the local and international recognition was an incredible moment for the family and the team.

“Our salumi honours three generations, encompassing over half a century of family tradition – uncompromising quality, never cutting corners, and always made to look and taste just like the best you would find in Italy.”
