The annual awards acknowledge the highest standards of wine production, with Western Australian wineries pitted against strong entrants from South Australia, Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and Tasmania.
Eight special trophies were awarded this year, with Juniper Estate’s Cornerstone Karridale Vineyard Chardonnay 2024 Vintage coming out on top, receiving Wine of Show, Best White Wine, and The John Jens Perpetual Trophy For Best Western Australian Wine Of Show. It was also awarded Best Chardonnay amongst the trophies for white wine.
The Western Australian company comprises three distinct sites in the Margaret River region, Wilyabrup where the cellar door and winery is located, Karridale in the south and Metricup in the north.
Juniper Estate head winemaker, Andrew Bretherton, said the team is absolutely thrilled to have been awarded four trophies and one gold medal at the Royal Perth Wine Awards.
“It is a great reward for the hard work put in by both our vineyard and winery teams and a fantastic acknowledgement of the quality of our programs and our vineyard sites,” Bretherton said.
“In a warm vintage, we were always very excited by the power, complexity and pristine fruit that is expressed in this wine.”
Best Red went to Mandoon Estate of Western Australia, Best Rosé was awarded to Jacob’s Creek from South Australia, and Best Sparkling was received by Pipers Brook Vineyard, based in Tasmania.
