Winners of the New South Wales Export Awards have been announced, with SunRice Group taking out the Agribusiness, Food & Beverages category, Flavourtech receiving the Regional Exporter award, and BiteRiot taking out Small Business.
Now in its 63rd year, the program celebrates the contribution exporters make to New South Wales through diversification, job creation and increased economic prosperity.
The government stated the range and success of this year’s winners highlight the impact of the state’s export programs, which are expanding under the New South Wales Trade and Investment Strategy. More than 30 Going Global Export Programs and Going Global Trade Missions will be delivered over the next year, supporting up to 350 local businesses in the international marketplace.
New South Wales Minister for Industry and Trade, Anoulack Chanthivong, said exporters generate high revenues, provide more jobs and drive innovation, so that’s why the state government is excited to help their opportunities grow.
“With quality programs, and a strong network of trade representatives in New South Wales and around the world, the state government is committed to ensuring our state’s businesses remain competitive and connected on the global stage,” said Chanthivong.
Aside from the Agribusiness, Food & Beverages, the sector received recognition in the Regional Exporter, Small Business, Sustainability & Green Economy categories. Powdered milk company, BTNature, also received the Western Sydney Exporter award in the state category.
One of Australia’s leading branded food exporters, SunRice has been around for 75 years, now having 45 major brands and significant markets in the United States, the Pacific and the Middle East, as well as expanding markets across Europe and Asia.
The company thanked the Export Council of Australia, the judges, sponsors and all finalists for celebrating the strength and success of NSW businesses in a statement on LinkedIn.
“From our origins in the Riverina, we’ve grown into a diversified global food business with operations across 10 countries and products in nearly 50 markets,” stated the company.
“While our reach is global, our roots remain firmly in the Riverina region of New South Wales, where we continue to make a significant contribution to local communities, employing more than 650 people and engaging over 350 small businesses. We look forward to representing New South Wales at the National Export Awards in Canberra next month.”
Apple and cherry farmers, BiteRiot Operations, received the Small Business award, while global aroma extraction technology manufacturer, Flavourtech, was the top Regional Exporter. Native Australian essential oils and botanicals producer, Down Under Enterprises, landed the Sustainability & Green Economy award.
The NSW Exporter of the Year award went to medical research company, Southern Star Research.
Export Council of Australia chair, Dianne Tipping, said she was thrilled to congratulate all the exceptional finalists and winners of the 2025 New South Wales Export Awards.
“This year’s cohort reflects the remarkable diversity, resilience, and innovation that define New South Wales exporters – from regional trailblazers to global industry leaders,” said Tipping.
“Their achievements not only strengthen our economy but also showcase the world-class capabilities that New South Wales brings to international markets. We’re proud to celebrate their success and the vital role they play in shaping New South Wales’s future on the global stage.”
The winners in the 14 national categories will progress as finalists for the Australian Export Awards, to be held in Canberra on 26 November.
