Nominations are open for the Victorian Manufacturing Awards for 15 categories including ‘Young Manufacturer of the Year’, ‘Woman Manufacturer of the Year’ and ‘Honour Roll for Services to Industry’.

Nine new awards have been introduced this year including ‘Manufacturing Apprentice’, ’Regional Manufacturer’, as well as leaders in ‘Defence, Aerospace and Space’, ‘Rolling Stock and Transport’ and ‘Zero and Low Emissions Technologies’.

Established in 2001, the awards recognise individuals and companies that embrace new technologies, excel in business innovation, drive exports and boost the state’s economy.

Victoria’s $31 billion manufacturing industry is made up of more than 23,000 businesses, employing more than 260,000 people – providing around 30 per cent of Australia’s manufacturing output.

The 2022 awards attracted more than 100 nominations and were attended by 770 industry guests, reaffirming its status as Victoria’s premier manufacturing event, which saw Foodmach win Leader in Innovative Product Development and Commercialisation.

The awards form part of a range of initiatives, including the Breakthrough Victoria Fund, the Manufacturing Industry and Development Fund, the Australian Medtech Manufacturing Centre and the Low Carbon Manufacturing Grant Program, all outlined in the government’s Made in Victoria 2030: Manufacturing Statement, which sets out its priorities for boosting sovereign manufacturing, attracting investment and creating new jobs for Victoria.

Nominations for the awards close 31 March.
