Australia’s first focus drink - a new class of beverages that claim to boost focus, concentration and mental performance - has been launched.

Shine+ was created by Stephen Chapman and Dr Sam Prince, a BRW Young Rich Lister and ACT Young Australian of the Year.

The new product was developed in collaboration with professors of psychopharmacology, Olympic sports psychologists and leading food technologists, according to its makers.

The drink contains Ginkgo Biloba, Green Tea Extract (with L-Theanine), Caffeine, Turmeric and other ingredients that are associated with mental function such as Siberian Ginseng and Vitamins B6 and B12.

Unlike ‘energy drinks’ or other caffeinated beverages, Shine+ contains a low amount of sugar and has no artificial colours, flavours and sweeteners, according to its makers, which means drinkers avoid the ‘caffeine crash’.

The drink has a ginger lemon and turmeric flavour designed to stimulate the brain, they say, and is designed to be consumed either at room temperature or chilled.

The company has also partnered with Water Is Life which means every bottle of Shine+ sold provides one day of clean drinking water to a person in need.

To date the company says it has already donated over 35,000 days of clean drinking water, and aims to donate one million days of clean water by the end of 2017.

Chapman said, “I’m very proud of Shine+ as it not only helps everyday Australians be at their best, but it also gives others access to life-saving clean drinking water at the same time.”

The product comes in a 110ml glass bottle and is available for purchase online and in selected stores around Australia.

In-store it is sold individually, or online in packs of 7 ($35), 12 ($57), 24 ($96) and 28 ($112).
