Subscription-based meal kit company Marley Spoon Australia CEO Rolf Weber will expand his role to become the new global chief operating officer (COO) and join the company’s management board.

Weber joined Marley Spoon six years ago to launch the company’s Australian outfit and built the operation into a $200m annual revenue run-rate business. Prior to joining Marley Spoon Weber had established a range of ecommerce and online businesses, including online shopping club brandsExclusive.

Marley Spoon supervisory board chair Deena Shiff said given Weber’s success in increasing the Australian business, the board was pleased to appoint him as COO.

“Rolf’s appointment builds upon the role he has played in the development of the global business, notably in transferring to the regions knowledge of operational best practice, which he has successfully implemented in Australia,” said Shiff.

Marley Spoon CEO and management board chair Fabian Seigel said Webber would improve the company’s standardisations across its operating regions to add value to customers.

Webber will start as COO on 1 December.
