Asahi Beverages has appointed Roland van Bommel as chair of Asahi Holdings Australia (AHA). He joined the board in 2013 and has been acting chair since December, when Peter Margin resigned.

Margin is focussing on other board directorships, including stepping up to deputy chair for Bega Cheese as it integrates Lion Dairy & Drinks.

Asahi Beverages Group CEO Robert Iervasi said van Bommel’s understanding of the business and broader beverages industry would help the company and industry challenges.

Carlton and United Breweries was integrated in June 2020 into Asahi Lifestyle Beverages and Asahi Beverages New Zealand.

Van Bommel was previously CEO of William Grant & Sons and Maxxium Worldwide.

“I am energised by the challenge, of leading the AHA board and ensuring we continue to achieve our ambitious growth targets and provide great jobs for our people,” he said.

“The breadth of the Asahi Beverages business, manufacturing footprint and beverages portfolio gives us a great opportunity to deliver extraordinary results for our people, our partners, our customers, consumers and community.”

Asahi Beverages appointed a new CEO of Asahi Lifestyle Beverages in December, Nigel Parsons will join the business in March.
