Contract packaging specialist Multipack has opened of a new food packaging plant at its Moorebank headquarters.

The company recently put the finishing touches to the new site, which will boast several new packaging lines as well as three large clean rooms with SQF and HACCP accreditation for primary and secondary food packaging.

The company has also lined up significant contracts with two major Australian food manufacturers, one in the confectionery area and the other a beverage specialist.

Multipack sales and marketing manager Brad Devine says the investment is part of an ongoing strategy by the company to provide a flexible, convenient food-accredited facility for companies requiring a Sydney-based service.

“Sydney has not really had much development in the contract packaging of food for some time,” Devine says.

“There are not a lot of co-packing businesses in Sydney which have the accreditations we have, so we really feel we have something new to offer – and the proof of that is that we have already picked up some significant business.

“And at least one of those new contracts is on-going retail business, so we think we have made the right decision to invest in this area.”

One of the new lines will be totally dedicated to ongoing work for one of the new clients.

Devine says the company plans to take advantage of the combined expertise of both Multipack and the former Creative Pack business to offer more contract packaging offerings.

“Value-add has been our bread and butter in the promotional space until now, and the expertise we have there fits very well in the FMCG and food sectors,” he says.
