A Mexican food franchise has partnered with food relief organisation Foodbank to combat Australia's hunger problem with a humble brownie.

The company, Zambrero, has added the Hazillo Brownie, “a dark chocolate and hazelnut brownie with a hint of guajillo chilli”, to its range.

And for each brownie sold, a rice and beans meal will be donated to an Australian in need through Foodbank.

Zambrero has a retail line which contributes to the company’s Plate 4 Plate initiative.

Through Plate 4 Plate, it has assisted communities in both Australia and overseas.

Foodbank’s Hunger Report found that one in six Australians have experienced food insecurity in the last 12 months.
